May I suggest Turkey for a future trip guys? Has a lot of that endearing arab/muslim vibe with the food, architecture , and travel generally, but is possibly a bit easier and less crowded, certainly more varied...

Thanks everyone for their kind reviews of my trip report.
I was thinking of maybe going to Bulgaria in the spring. Anyone been there? Word is that it is cheap, very beautiful and a bit exotic almost like western Europe during the 1950s.
The worst place for underaged sex tourism that I have been to is the Dominican Republic. Last year I was on the beach in Sosua with my wife. We were at a beach bar and witnessed a middle aged German pawing an obviously underaged Dominican girl. It was so disgusting I had to get up and leave. The locals were wandering by, not even batting an eye, like this was business as usual.
In Thailand this sort of trade is illegal and in Cambodia there are signs on the beach warning of it and encouraging people to report child abuse. Not so in the Domincan.

I spent a short period of time in Bulgaria this spring. It was pretty and less expensive than most other places in Europe. Pretty short on infrastructure though (as one would expect).
For me it is now a been there, done that, no interest in going back thing, but others may feel differently.

molsons - please don't go off down the sex tourism road. It invariably opens a can of worms that won't go back, then ends in people trading insults....same for the "young people of today...." diatribes.
I live in hope Older Travellers don't always end up muttering and ranting about these old chestnuts and enjoy tales of travel adventures instead.........please?
