Canada Trip Part (1)

Onwards and upwards ...
The trip to Canada was about 12 months in the planning. The two major expenses were the airline tickets and of course the hire of the Recreational Vehicle (RV) What I didn’t factor in was the price of petrol! We travelled via Fiji. Hawaii and onto Vancouver. Fiji was nice and warm and the pre booked accommodation at smugglers cove was good value (120.00) The seating on the planes from Fiji on was good as 2/3rds of the plane was empty and I got exit row seats (long legs and old football injuries) The immigration system in Hawaii was full on for transit passengers and I had some explaining to do for all the middle east stamps. Once all that was explained no further problems were encountered.
Arriving at Vancouver we were met by brilliant host Mr and Mrs LIVING . The next few days we were taken to Whistler and attractions in Vancouver. It was a tad wet to say the least but the company was great. The next Wednesday saw the departure of the RV. The battle plan was to travel to the Rockies and then meet up with LIVING around Dawson Creek. The best laid plans sometimes come unstruck and these did in a big way fro LIVING as the RV fit out for them ended up being almost 3 weeks behind.
Picking up the RV from the hire company Cruise America was an example of crap customer service. 20 minute DVD keys for the van and go. First mistake I made was looking for the obvious damage tyres etc on the RV and not looking at the inside rear tyres that on the next inspection were as bald as the top of my head.
We drove out and the first 10 k’s or so was interesting for us and frightening for other road users as of course Canadians drive on the wrong side of the road. Other drivers cut us some slack and we finally made it out and arrived at beautiful manning park. Weather was it was cold and wet which was the norm for the next 6 weeks. We did some trails around the park and enjoyed the magnificent views. A lot of the pars were still closed or partially open and there was certainly no queuing up at the drop dunnies. The lack of travellers was noticed by park operators across BC and Alaska conservative numbers had numbers of RV’s down by 30 percent.
The next week was spent traversing the Rockies which are a spectacular introduction to BC. Lake Louise came into second place to its neighbour Moraine Lake . The walking was great between dodging critters that dig holes and Moose that are angry mothers. Mixed in there somewhere were some bears that we were told to keep an eye out for but were never spotted.
After leaving the Rockies we travelled via Grand Cache and Grand Prairie over nighting at a lake that introduced me to the local versions of rednecks. The provisional parks in BC have sublet a lot of the management to private companies and hence they are interested in selling wood and collecting fees and not much else. Some young blokes set up camp next to us and played doof doof music (first mistake) swore and carried on (second mistake) and woke me at 1.30 am (final mistake). I explained to them rather rudely that quietening down would be good for everyone’s health. Next morning no eye contact and sheepish looks. I never repeated this confrontation style again as I figured the further isolated we went more people had guns and in Alaska guns outnumber people!

Drop the odd dialect-it's not cute just irritating.

Also learn to use paragraphs-what you've posted in well nigh impenetrable.

Perhaps you could respect the OP's freedom of choice to write their post however they want. Also feel free to exercise your freedom of choice and choose not to even bother reading posts that don't sufficiently satisfy your exacting standards. There is no need to go out of your way to be a jerk.

Wherever in this world English is used there are differences in words and expressions,so do not criticize someone for that.

But I do have one criticism which is "Of course Canadians drive on the wrong side of the road." I beg to differ but there are very few places where left side driving is practised, most of the world drives on the RIGHT.

About 70% of the world drives on the right!

my fault for the spacing it was a cut and paste that i didnt pick up on quick enough....some of the writing will be tongue in cheek and i do write in the orstralian dialect as how many times can i write........anyways..

What really can we expect from someone from Turkmenistan? Not really very tolerant of others those Turkmenistani's are they. Right on 5, 8 and 10.
Hardnose you're off base and if you can't play nice with others you should just pack up your toys and go home.

I'm personally looking forward to the rest of the trip story and I kind of like to read it in the authors own vernacular.

M&B you should have stayed longer we're in total sunshine and 30plus degrees here in the Cariboo.
