Hi

I have read a bit on the FAQ page and in related posts about the only certain legal way to travel through the Middle East being from North to South and concluding in Israel. What exactly is this route? I’m an Irish citizen (euro passport) and would like to see as much of the middle east’s best sights as I can, without getting into passport trouble etc. Also would six to eight weeks be enough time to spend there?
Thanks

Hi,

I´m going to visit Jordan and want to go to the Dead Sea for a day or two. Which place or city can you recommend there? I don´t want to camp but stay in good hostel. How long do you drive from Petra or Amman to that place?

Thanks for your answers!

I am holding Portugal passport (Issued in Macao). Can I get the visa upon arrival at the Damascus airport ?? Also, can I enter Lebanon and back to Syria ? Do we need to apply the visa again when we go back to Syria from Lebanon ?

I'm going to Syria and Jordan in April/May and have noticed 3 festivals taking place in Syria at that time:

Flower festival in Hama
Traditional festival (?) in Palmyra
International Flower Fair in Damascus

I'm wondering: are any of these worthwhile? I mean, I like flowers as much as the next girl, but rearranging the travel plans to accomodate an event means the event is pretty fantastic!! Please let me know if you've been, and how they were.

Cheers

Really quick... the flight I was hoping to book just jumped up by $100... argh Royal Jordanian!!! Now the cheapest flight (by about $200) is a flight that has a stopover in Tel Aviv. If you are only stopping over in Tel Aviv, not leaving the airport, and immediatey bording another plane for Amman, is the Israeli stamp even an issue? I know about the whole situation (have read all the posts), but have not encountered this particular scenario. I will be visiting Syria while I am in Jordan.

Hi:
I find that budget accommodations listed on the internet usually does not have the same definition for budget that a backpacker might use, unless it is like hostelworld. This certainly is the case for kuwait. I find that hotels that are not 'suitable for women' or hotels that cater to--lets say, since I know this one exists, only to working people from India, or day time lovers hotels, do not make it to the internet. Plus, a good number of real budget hotels can not afford the added…

Hi everyone

I am leaving for an extended trip in July to travel Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and then down to Yemen, Djibouti and Ethiopia.

However I have heard that if you have a Pakistan / Afghan visa in your passport this creates a lot of problems entering Yemen (ie they don't let you in). Is this true? Has anyone had any similar problems entering Yemen with a Pakistan visa in their passport. What did you do to convince the authorities to let you in the country?

I was in Yemen a few…

Hi everyone

I've just got a hold of an application for an iranian visa from the consulate in canberra for my trip in mid july. However the forms say that visas are only issued for persons travelling in a tour group, or who have accommodation already booked.

As I am travelling solo I certainly don't want to go in a tour group so are there any ways around this? Has anybody had similar experiences applying for a visa in australia? Any names of agencies that can assist me in getting the visa without…
