I am an Indian national who will be traveling to Bangalore from IAD, Dulles (USA) in Feb 2010 via Dubai and be back Mar 2010 via Dubai again. My Wife will be traveling via the same in Jan 2010 and back 2010.

We are waiting on 485 after completing our biometrics and we will be traveling on Advance Parole. The stop over at the Dubai airport is never more than 4 hours any time. I do not plan to go out of the airport at any time.

I am stopping in Dubai on the way home to Auckland on 10 and 11 January. It is the last 2 nights of a big trip.

I am looking for a budget hotel $50 to $70 US max, I dont want a youth hotel, just a decent clean and central hotel where I can base myself and have a bit of a look around and maybe spend some time on the beach. I have never been to Dubai before.

I have a 12 hours transit time in Sharjah on my way to Sri Lanka from Athens. I read in a previous post that there is a bus from the airport to the town. Is it correct? Any interesting places to visit ? I would' t like to see malls etc but something more "traditional".
Any suggestions for a good restaurant? I don't mean expensive.

Hello, I know about the duty free area at Abu Dhabi airport where you can purchase alcohol upon arrival into the UAE, but I'm wondering if it's cheaper to buy it in the duty free in my home country (Ireland) and carry it? Would I be allowed to bring in duty free from another country?

Also, we're going to be camping for our week there, and plan going into Oman. Will we have a problem carrying (open) bottles of alcohol into Oman (ie will they search the car)? and then likewise carrying the same…

I have to fly from EU to Dubai for a 4-5 hour meeting. Horrendous flights. I will have 1 afternoon and evening before heading back in the wee hours.

I want to find a gym which has a nice spa. At least a sauna and jacuzzi. Preferably massage/facial service available as well. Any ideas of places? Price is no concern--I just have to get the kinks out and hydrate the skin. So, I will just pay a drop in fee. Thanks for any advice. I will post on YC as well.
