I'm trying to get information whether there are passenger ships between UAE and India (probably Mumbai). Can anyone help? We would be arriving in Dubai or Sharjah by ferry from Iran.

My husband is thinking about take on a new job in Sharjah, UAE and I was just wondering if anybody had any advice, hints, tips, ANYTHING really about living In Sharjah as a Westener with a small child who is 2.

We are also thinking of possibly living in Dubai and him travelling to Sharjah which in this case the traffic shouldn't be too bad considering it would be going against the traffic?

Is there a metro or train from Dubai to Sharjah?

I have a two day stopover in the UAE next month, travelling from UK to Thailand. I have several medications that are on the UAE's restricted medications list. I contacted the UAE drug registration service for their advice, they replied saying it was fine to take the medication as long as I had a certified letter from my doctor and a valid prescription.

yes i know i'll burn from the heat, but taking a 5 day stopover and want to see dubai - looking to spend about 35-45us which doesnt seem too bad at this time (off season specials)....any suggestions. Thanks!

Next autumn I want to visit south Asia and it seems that the cheapest option by far is getting to Dubai airport with some european airline, and flying out from Sharjah airport with Air Arabia. Can I get two UAE free visit visas on arrival or I could get into trouble when I come back with the return flight? The whole trip duration will be only two-three weeks, I haven't understood if there is a minimum lenght I have to stay out of the country between the two visits.

Seems like Eid al-Adha this year wil be 6th or 7th November. I will be in Dubai only three days, 5th - 7th November. Are restaurants and cafes closed, and do they serve alchohol in hotel restaurnts this day? Are souks and shops closed? Beaches are open? Anything else worth knowing?

Will be in Dubai on a layover on 13 May 2011, landing 8:05 and departing 15:15. Have never been before and just realized Friday is their weekend so many things will be closed.

Any tips on what to see/do on a Friday morning in Dubai?
