There is a liquor store at the Fujairah Beach Motel. No special permit is need to shop there. It has a very good selection of beer and alcohol at very cheap prices compared to prices at high end hotels and clubs. For example a case of 24 cans of most beers is 140 Dirhams (about 28 dollars per case) compared to about 20 Dirhams for a single beer at a hotel or club. The Motel is along the main coast highway at the north end of town.

Hello all,
I will be in the UAE for a week in October 2011, staying in Dubai but making day-trips to the other Emirates. I'd like to know if there are restrictions on photographing mosques (i.e, Jumeirah mosque in Dubai, Sheikh Zayed mosque in Abu Dhabi). Mostly the exterior. Travel guides do not address this so I'm guessing it is ok, however I prefer to make sure.
Also, as a woman traveller, I'll be dressing in a conservative fashion but I would really like to wear flip-flops/sandals. How is…

relocating to Dubai shortly

i have just been offered a job in Dubai, so am going to move there shortly, and wondered if anyone knew the answers to the following questions:

1 - how much roughly would a bachelor pad / self-contained flat / bedsit type of place cost to rent for a month? the company is in media city, so am hoping to find accomodation not too far from there.

2 - do people cycle in Dubai? i could fly my bicycle over there cheaply, but am not sure if cyclists are 'welcome' by motorists

3 - my annual…

Sorry, about the previous posts. I am learning as I go. I just found out both Etihad, and Emirates airlines offer Canadian passengers e-visas, which are cheaper than if applying via the embassy, so if I book a flight to Dubai, i can also apply for an e-visa, which is emailed to me.

E-visa costs around $70-80 on both airlines (30 days), and i will need about a week in Dubai (to apply for an Indian visa). But, what i don't know is if both airlines require a $250 deposit fee (to be returned upon…

I have heard reports Canadians visiting UAE will no longer have free visa on arrival. I would like to visit Dubai for a period of 10 days, to apply for an Indian visa.

If i arrive before January 2, 2011, will I still be eligible for a free, visa on arrival to UAE? Do I have to leave before that date as well, or is it just the entry date that must be before January 2, 2011?

Thank you

abu dhabi in august

I am travelling from ireland to south korea for three weeks in august. I can include a stopover in abu dhabi and am very keen to do this, but am wondering if the sights will be open as it will be ramadan at this time? I would like to experience the cultural aspects of ramadan but I am worried that it will impact on being able to see the city, go on a trip to the desert etc. I am also wondering about the weather, I expect it will be hot but is it worth not going at all because of the heat?

Visa Question

Hi,

does anyone know a fast (3-4 working days) and efficient way to get a tourist visa for UAE/Dubai for a citizen of Bosnia & Hercegovina (except the flying with Emirates option)?

Thanks!

What to do in Dubai

Fellow Dubai travelers,

I spent a fabulous week in Dubai on my way across to London. If you want some advice on where to stay, what to do and what to expect you can check it all out here.

Hope you have as much fun as I did :)
