My family and I will be traveling to Pakistan via Dubai at the end of the summer. We are both students in Saudi Arabia, under a student iqama. We were hoping to stop in Dubai for a few days as my wife has a friend there that we would stay with. After calling both the UAE consulate (who don't handle transit visas anymore) and Emirates Airlines, the operator at EA made it sound like there was a possibility of us getting rejected for a transit visa?
What are the chances of that happening? What are the visa fees? I and my 2 children are American Nationals and my wife a Pakistani National. Thanks.

American passport holders receive a visa on arrival. The only one who will need to apply for a visa is your wife.

How long do you want to transit for? They issue transit visas for up to 96 hours. What is the reason that Emirates Airlines said she may be rejected for? That could help us help you if you clarified that.

We only plan on staying 3 days, so a transit visa would be fine. They said that based on the fact that we are students, she might get rejected. Didn't really make sense to me.
Good effort in the threadjacking mr. patel.

@abu_sahl

Did she apply online? The relevant section is "Apply for your UAE visa online"

That is a bit odd for them to say she might be rejected just based on student status. Some Saudi residents get visa on arrival for UAE, but they are right in that a student status probably wouldn't qualify her for that. Still, I thought the airline would have an obligation to sponsor her for a transit visa. Why doesn't she ask them to apply for a transit visa anyway? They may just not want to do the paperwork and are trying to discourage her.

An alternative might be the Marhaba service offered by Emirates. It may be bit expensive in that you'll have to book a hotel with them though.

@dhirumpatel

I believe you can apply also online for the UAE visa. You can find more information in the link here.

Update: We applied online and things went pretty smoothly. They gave us a 4 day transit visa, more than enough time to see the sights.
