Long stopover in Dubai

Hi there,

Most of the 5 star hotels, will allow you to check in as early as 6.00am on your check-in date, depending on availability. Unless there is a big exhibition or event going on in Dubai on the days of your visit you don't have to worry. I would suggest booking a room in Crowne Plaza Festival City, nice, very close to Dubai airport (10mins by car), and can be booked for about AED600pn, if booked in advance. If you want cheaper ones, there is a holiday inn right next to the airport. IBIS is another option. Taxi is not at all something you have to worry about. You can easily find one everywhere, and if you need to book one, you can do that by calling (800-RTA) or 042080808.

I think I will check the hotels and appartments close the airport (Ibis, holiday inn...) and then I will try to get in touch with them to ask for early check-ins.

Dubai is not that big a city and unless you are travelling during peak time, you can reach the airport reasonably quickly. Look at hotels on Sheikh Zayed Road which allow you to get in and out of places you want to see quite quickly. The Ibis or Novotel are quite reasonably priced. You've got lots of time to see the cityr ; and taxis are plenty. No need to book ahead.

I have never rented an apartment, in fact i am only used to hostels, but this time I would like a very good place to finish my holidays (this stepover is on my way back home) after have been using hostels for a long while as i expect to do.

I think that for 2 days is easier just book a nice but still not very expensive hotel room. Now I am considering ibis or holiday inn (affordable, close to metro stations, close to the airport, which is a good thing if you have to be there at 5:00 am...)

Ibis at Mall of The Emirates would be good for you, it is walking distance to the Metro and the Mall (great food court) and a short taxi ride to the beach.

At 5 am the roads will be very quiet, it will only be 20 mins in a taxi from there,no need to stay up by the airport.

ibis deira...opposite deira city center offers similar price to ibis mall of the emirates, i stayed there, very budget, you have access to the deira city center which is opposite and close to the airport.

Malacara - aka the Op - when looking at stopovers I have always checked out the airline's stopover packages inclusive of airport transfers, meals and a room. These have ALWAYS been cheaper than the rack rate of the hotel including online specials. However since I always book my trips through a travel agent, this is something I discuss and investigate BEFORE I pay for my airline ticket, I get the whole package priced in one amount and I don't pay anything extra other than meals or drinks that are not included and any tips. In your case, I would still check out the airline's stopover packages to give you a price base to work on.
