Hi everyone,

this might sound like a stupid question, but can I exchange Ugandan Shillings into Dirhams at Dubai Airport? Would UGX be accepted given that it's not really a world currency? :)

Cheers!

The best money to bring to Dubai is USD because of Fix rate 100USD = 365 AED:

Regarding your question it could be possible – I changed 3000 Yemeni money) got around 13 USD = 48 AED they only way know find out when get to Dubai.

Enjoy your trip

I'd think it's highly unlikely. They'll change major currencies, currencies from Arab countries and Iran and currencies from India/Pakistan/Sri Lanka/Phillipines where lots of guest workers come from but I doubt there's anywhere in the country you'll easily be able to exchange random sub-Saharan African currencies.

That's what I was afraid of, thank you. It's not that I'm bringing Shillings in by choice, but we fly from Entebbe to Dubai, and vice versa I doubt that I can get Dirhams here in Uganda.
Cheers!

Its unlikely. Your best bet would be to change your shillings to USD in Entebbe. As #1 pointed out, the UAE dirham is fixed to the USD, so USD is easy to use or change in UAE.

Thanks everyone. We would have like to avoid exchanging from UGX into USD into Dirhams, as we would lose twice, but looks like there's no other way.

Thanks everyone!
