Have paged through Dubai & Abu Dhabi Lonely Planet Guide by Josephine Quintero.

No mention of footwear. Is it acceptable to wear open-toed footwear? What about painted toenails?

How about capri pants?

Advice appreciated.

Thank you.

Yes, yes and yes.

As long as your shoulders and knees are covered, you're good.
Unless you want to visit a mosque, in which case, you should have long sleeves, and legs covered well below the knee.

no problem at all with open-toed footwear, painted toenails and capri pants. obviously it depends on what you plan to do and visit, where you want to be etc. in dubai on the beach (places like jumeirah), you would also be okay wearing shorts and a tank-top.

to visit a mosque, as a woman, its good if your hair is covered by scarf. pants that cover your knees and a shirt covering your shoulders and elbows .
