Hi there

I visited Dubai in September a couple of years ago and saw a handful of 'local hotels' in the old districts such as Bur Dubai and Deira. They are probably run by the Pakistani/Indian. I wonder if anyone has experience staying in any of them or know about them. If yes, could you enlighten me regarding their:

1) cleanliness and conditions
2) price/night
3) how to go about making a booking
4) advise alternative cheap yet central accommodation in Dubai

Dubai was pretty hot and humid in September, I wonder what the climate will feel like in late May.

Many thanks!

Yes, there are many such hotels. The cleanliness and conditions are variable, therefore I suggest you check previous visitors' reviews online before booking. Check on Agoda and you can filter by hotel area - Deira and Bur Dubai. Your alternative options depend on how much you are prepared to spend.

The weather in May and September are fairly similar. Perhaps May will be a couple of degrees cooler and a little less humid, but not much.

I'd suggest you look at hotels in Barsha as these tend to be similar prices as old Dubai but much newer and cleaner. I stayed in the Corp Executive Hotel once when up for a weekend from Abu Dhabi and was impressed with the space we got for the price - at the time around AED 300/night. Suggest you look at google or booking.com and check hotel scores on tripadvisor.
