Hi me and my girlfriend would like to spend a week in dubai to finish off a couple of months backpacking round asia, we are looking for somewhere not too expensive under $100 a night but clean and close to touristy things, we dont really want to stay in the youth hostel as it will be our last hurrah before returning home, I have read that most of the cheaper hotels dont have websites but we would like something booked before we arrive. What area's are best and are there any hotels you could reccomend for this budget. Any help on this would be great. Thanks!!
Good Luck on this search. I too have tried for months in vain to find something affordable in Central Dubai as the beach areas are rediculosly overpriced. I am going to Europe for the 1st time & finishing up for a week in Dubai. The best & cheapest Accomodation I can find in Diera is the St George Hotel, its priced at around $160 Aussy dollars per night with emirates (I'm quoting prices up to 31 Oct - as per the website www.emirates.com). It has No pool but is central. The hotel website is www.stgeorgedubai.ae
In Bur Dubai theres the Dar Al Sondos Hotel & Apartments or the Golden Sands Hotel Apartments (Also on emirates website) for around $160 per night. Both Have pools. But they are not totally central - a good walking distance or taxi.
Otherwise the Hotel ibis & Novotel are on Shik Zayed Road and they are surpose to be under $200 per night.
I know none of these are in your budget of $100 per night but I can't find any better for myself either. I'll keep an eye out & recheck this post though incase someone comes up with something - that we may both be able to book.
I specifically want a pool - but if you are prepared to have no pool there are proberbly more options.

If you cannot afford $100 a night you cannot afford to be in Dubayi its rocketed
Sleep at the airport is free of course
Good luck
The Rotana in Al Ain is much better value see the website an oasis in the desert

I live here and there are places but you have to be adventurious get to the airport hop in a taxi and tell them the price in AED hotel you are looking for or get a higher priced place the first night and look the next day.You don't really need a pool just get a taxi to a beach beacuse they are not to far away. You might try this website for hotels www.hoteluae.com they have a ton listed.

Here is a gold mine of cheap hotels www.all-hotels.com in Dubai I just found by putting cheap hotels dubai in google.

Also try this:
They have plenty of hotels and list the cheaper ones that don't have websites, such as the services hotel/apartments in Bur Dubai that are often good deals. You can google the names of the hotels that pop up to check them out in advance. I used this site and had a good experience.
