I have found a cheap flight ticket with Etihad Airways, but read about several complaints about this airline: lost baggage etc.
Anyone with experience of flying with them?
Also, how generous are their luggage overweight policy? I will be carrying a lot over the allowed 20 kg.
I've flown on Etihad Airways a few times, and I can vouch for it. It is an excellent airline with wonderful, professional service and excellent prices. I didn't have any problems.

I have heard nothing but good about Etihad - my neices both flew with them and they are not seasoned travellers - they took care of them beautifully - and also they gave an additional 10kgs of luggage when they checked in - when I called them to check on the luggage allowance they just said 30kgs - I said - no in economy - and they said - yes that's right!

They are very flexible people, I've experienced their hospitality and care a few times.

I have flown them a number of times and found them excellent. No airline is perfect and I don't doubt that the complaints are real but I would consider them one of the best.
Their planes are new, service is great, especially in-flight magazine and the music.
Wine is very tasty.

Alternatively watch some poor passenger experiences of 24 hour plus delays and diversions without compensation at http://www.youtube.com/etihadflight . They are the worst airline in the middle east from my own unfortunate experience. Also see the Etihad Airline comments below ... most of the praise comes from one person which is suspicious to say the least ...
Theo, I've never flown Etihad, but given the huge number of contenders for piss poor performance and zero customer service in this region, I find it almost impossible to believe that Etihad are the worst airline in the middle east.
I know that their flights to Asia are not of the same standard as their flights into Europe, but I know a significant number of Dubai based people who choose to fly Etihad to Europe rather than Emirates these days, based on reliability and airport location, and not on price. They wouldnt do that if Etihad were routinely as bad as you believe.
Also, although one person has made a large number of positive comments, there have been an additional 3 regular and reliable ME branch posters who also praise Etihad. Your post comes quite close to insulting them by ignoring / disregarding their input.
