Cost of Taxi fare from Abu Dhabi airport in to City

Hi all fellow traveller,

I'm off to Oz the end of August but will be taking a stop over in Abi Dhabi for a few days, could anyone give a rough idea on the cost of taxis from the airport to the centre approx 18mlies. If not a taxi are there any other way to get in to the city.

Any help will be appreciated.

I don't know about taxis, but there are busses from the airport to downtown Abu Dhabi. They are not that frequent, might be only a bus every 30 or 40 mins, but it's only 2 or 3 dirhams, while a taxi is probably around 25 or so (as a rough estimation).

25 AED is 'good old times' and won't take you far on an airport taxi in Abu Dhabi any more. Apart from that, Abu Dhabi is on a long stretched island so the fare would be in the upper 40s if you are lucky. 50 AED is more realistic for a trip to the Corniche or city centre.

Thank you for your responses that very helpful, can you tell me how far roughly the taxi journey is i'm being told to the city centre if approx 18miles is that about right?
