For precise information, I would suggest you post this in the relevant country forum rather than in the UAE forum. Since you seem to be new to TT, the country links are as below.

Jordan - http://www.lonelyplanet.com/thorntree/forum.jspa?forumID=18&keywordid=75

Syria - http://www.lonelyplanet.com/thorntree/forum.jspa?forumID=18&keywordid=81

Lebanon - http://www.lonelyplanet.com/thorntree/forum.jspa?forumID=18&keywordid=77

Do a search on these forums for similar queries before you post.

Thanks folks!
I just though I have to make very sure, even my contraceptives are fine to bring in. their laws are so strict, and Im not fully aware of the details re: the laws, so that's why I posed this question to expereinced travellers.

No problem at all with contraceptive pills.

  1. Your advice that it is OK to transit through Dubai with drugs on the restricted or banned list is very wrong , there are travelers in Dubai prison now who were carrying Codein through Dubai airport between connecting flights, and there IS a security check before you go into the departure areas when transiting.

For anyones information- drugs on the restricted list must be accompanied by a notorised and attested prescription from your local Foreign Office AND a UAE Embassy (if not prescriped in UAE), a normal prescription from a doctor in your home country will not be accepted. Drugs on the banned list cannot be bought into the UAE (even if transiting),
