Hi all,

Has anyone got experience in the country Ajman? I read a lot about the other Emirates (of course Dubai), but not much on this small Emirate.

Has any one stayed there? What is the biggest city there? Recommend a good place to stay? People friendly? Things to do? Cost of living? Anywhere i can get a good overview of this Emirate?

Any info on this Emirate would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks,

Tim

When I lived in Sharjah, we used to go up the road to Ajman mainly because it was the nearest place where you could legally drink. Unfortunately, even the swish hotels were filled with russian hookers (I must admit, those were INCREDIBLE boots) and lebanese men on the prowl. Interesting for a night or two but not exactly what you want as a background to your life for years.

Cost of living is very cheap EXCEPT I don't know about rentals: groceries aren't expensive and take-out Indian is only one or two pounds for a chicken biryani. Ajman, like Sharjah, has a massive Indian/Pakistani community and also plenty of Arabs, but fewer foreigners from other countries.

And you can head into Dubai any time you want to do something mad.

Well I am living in Ajman, which is 35 km from Dubai, by Emirates road it takes 20 min to Dubai without traffic, with traffic more than an hour.
Ajman is cheaper in rentals than Sharjah and Dubai... studio cca 2000 AED or less. We are living near City Center and from my experience I see there more locals than for example in Sharjah.
Though there is not much to do in the city. The beach is full of indians. There is far beach behind the free zone which is very nice, quite and full of shells. 20km in Um al Quwain we used to spend the weekends in Dreamland which is a very nice water park.
