Woman traveling alone from Dubai to Oman and then on to LondonCountry forums / Middle East / Oman
Any thoughts on booking a tour by road from Dubai to Oman versus flying and opting for more time in Oman? I think I have come to the conclusion that flying is best (was recommended by a travel agent in a Dubai hotel based on my traveling alone). I had originally thought there might be lots of interesting sights along the way but I understand there is much to see in Muscat and then the surrounding countryside is said to be spectacular . Seeing as I will only have 1-2 days seems best to spend it sightseeing in Oman...Would you agree?
London > Dubai > Glasgow is possible as a single ticket. Is visit to Oman avoidable? Road trip is quite tiring, so air is better, if you cannot give the city a miss. why don't do you plan 2 day trips starting from Dubai. There are few top operators in UAE who have a lot to offer, if you like going away from the city. Cheers, | 1
Hi there! Well, let's go in parts. 1-Travelling from Dubai to Muscat: If you consider the price of the plane ticket and a normal bus, I recommend you use the latter. The trip can take anything from 5 to 6 hours depending on how long the passengers take in immigration. It's very safe for a female to travel alone in Oman. On the bus, just take a front seat. The scenery is beautiful in the UAE and north of Oman. 2- Two days in Oman is very little, I'd recommend you go at least one day earlier. I recommend two days for Muscat. There you can take a Bus Sightseeing tour, which allows you to hop on and off. 3- It's worthwhile contacting a tour agency in Muscat to arrange your trip to the Canyon. It's near(ish) the town of Nizwa, which shouldn't be left out. Nearby there's also Al-Hoota Caves and many forts. When I Nizwa, I went to a local agency (hard to find!) that got me a driver and in one day we saw a lot. He was just a driver in a 4x4, not really a guide, but it was fine.
