Time to Kill in AmmanCountry forums / Middle East / Jordan
Hello, I arrive in Amman June 10 but have no plans (or place to stay) until my class begins June 16th. Does anyone have advice about where to stay/what to do (cheaply) or would anyone like to get together? I'm a nice young woman who enjoys exploring other cultures. Best,
You can stay in downtown of Amman as there's a plenty of cheap hotels till you start your class . All best | 1
Hello diana, i'm currently in amman, so if you wish we can get in touch take care | 2
You could go daytripping to Jerash, Dead Sea or Madaba, in Amman there is the hill with Roman temple on top, downtown you can enjoy the streetlife. For some real different experience go to one of the upmarket neighbourhoods. | 3
AM IN AMMAN YOU CAN DROP ME AN ANOTE TO MY PRIVATE EMAIL | 4
There are lots of cheap hotels around Sharia Al Malek Faisal. In Amman there is the Roman Theatre and the Odeon, and also the Citadel which has a roman temple, some ancient houses, and a pretty cool museum. Day trips from Amman include Madaba/Mt Nebo/Dead Sea, Desert Castles, Jerash and Ajlun. In 6 days, you could actually even fit a trip in to Petra. The Jet bus leaves at about 6am and arrives in Petra around 9am. You could spend two days there and then make your way back to Amman before your class starts. | 5
Thanks everyone, I appreciate it. I'm staying at the hostel of the British Council for Research in the Levant. Health insurance--did anyone buy health insurance before going to Jordan? Recommend health insurance? Thanks. I'm American and my insurance covers nothing outside the US. | 6
I didn't buy health insurance before going to Jordan, but that's probably not a good idea, especially if your insurance from home covers nothing outside of the US. It's a really bad idea to travel without health insurance because if anything ever did happen to you, you (or your loved ones) would be responsible for all your expenses, which could bankrupt you, depending on the situation. It's just something to think about. Everytime I go away without health insurance and come back healthy and intact, I thank my lucky stars! | 7
