By bus to Aeppo/Halab or Damascus/Dimashq. 2 daily bus service cost 2300 sp that is around usd 55.Arrive Aleppo midday and Damascus 6 pm

No bus is the best and quickest way around 24 hours.
Try and connect trains journeys and buses it could take 2 days.

Fly with http://www.thy.com/ in 1 1/2 hour from Istanbul to Hatay (Antakya), fares start at 35 EUR, all in.
or
Fly with http://www.flypgs.com/en/ in 1 1/2 hour from Istanbul to Adana, fares start at 19 EUR, all in.

Hi post 4 if you take into account the time and cost for airport transfers twice is is still workable and compete with bus?

Be sure to check if the buses from istanbul to aleppo are direct buses. Because, at least for the winter period in which we traveled, there where no direct buses to return from aleppo to istanbul even though we were told so by the bus companies in aleppo.

To travel to aleppo from istanbul we took the train to make it more confortable. If you decide to take the train to adana you should know that from Adana there are buses to antakya until 03:00 in the morning. So you have time to change from train to bus and not stay in adana if you don't want to.

As far as i know there is no direct bus from Aleppo or Damascus to Istanbul.The Market is too small for dedicated bus.
Most buses stop at Antakya then Adana you change bus to Istanbul.Waiting time usually 2-3 hours for connecting bus.

Did this trip in the summer.We ended up waiting for two days in Istanbul to get a train to Adana. Cery messy we finally got there by two tickets on the same train, I think the booking clerk first out was looking at through tickets only and they did not exist. From Adana we ended up with a taxi. Coming back we did it by train from Aleppo to Adana and then ages waiting for the onward connection. An interesting trip but not one I will do again in a rush. Next time I am flying direct to Syria or just do an istanbul stop over and fly, much easier and overall cheaper.

Fly to Adana (Pegasus) - bus to Antakya (Turkey) - overnight in hotel - then taxi next am to Aleppo (Damascus)

Or....

Take overnight bus to Goreme (Capadoccia). Spend day in Cappadocia (actually worth several days to visit). Then overnight bus from Goreme to Aleppo.
