Musandam Peninsula

Country forums / Middle East / Oman

Hi,
I am going to Dubai at the end of April and have 3 nights and 4 days at the end where we (3 girls) want to go on adventure to Oman, so as its a short time I was thinking to go to Musandam Peninsula instead of Muscat.

Has anyone heard of Khasab Tours - they seem to have quite a good deal with a 2 night 3 day package that includes the following;

Transfer Dubai - Khasab 0900 hrs
2 night stay at Golden Tulip Resort on sharing & BB basis
HD 4 WD safari to Jebel Harim on day 1 from 1400 hrs
FD dhow cruise with lunch on day 2 from 0900 hrs - 1600 hrs
HD city tour of khasab on day 3 morning and drop to Dubai
English Speaking driver cum guide during tours

Is this the main sights to see or should we look at doing this independently? I also would love to do a dive - anyone know a good company in that area? I heard that you can camp on Telegrah Island too - does anyone know about this?

Thanks

Khasab tours have a good reputation, and this is a reasonably good itinerary. If you arrange the trip yourself, the one thing you will struggle to arrange is the half day on Jebel Harim which is well worth it - getting into the mountains is easily half of the appeal of the Musandam.

The city tour of Khasab is the least attractive bit of this, so if you want to get a dive in as well, I'd recommend that you ask them to change it. There's a dive school at the hotel, and they're fine, so you can do it very easily. The dhow cruise will almost certainly take you into telegraph island, and will also give you snorkelling time.

We've always used Khasab Tours and never had any problems with them.
Half day "city" tour of Khasab makes me laugh though - what on earth are they going to show you that will take up half a day??!

my thoughts exactly veralynn!

I second GC's suggestion to substitute the tour of Khasab for a dive. Other than that the itinerary sounds fine, Musandam is beautiful and well worth a visit.
