mosqitoes

We are planning a leisurely wild camping/ car and bus trip through Oman this November/December. Will mosqitoes be a problem, and if so is there malaria?

Funny I should read this now: just last week I taught a Science class at the university about this! There have ben no officially reported cases of malaria in Oman in ten years. Off the record, though, 9 laborers had it last year. (There are about 700,000 ex-pat manual laborers here.....mostly from the subcontinent countries.) The gov't did a SUPERB job after His Majesty Sultan Qaboos came to power in 1970, when ONE IN THREE Omanis had malaria!! From 33% to zero in 33 years is pretty amazing!! And mosquitos are generally not a problem here.
