It is possible to take your 2-year-old baby with you. There are plenty of Jordanians travelling with their children on buses and such, so it is no big problem. Hotels are also quite accomodating. (Jordanians love children.) But: It is the Middle East, it is a semi-tropic region and there are a bunch of unhealthy germs flying around. I would thing hard about taking your baby with you. Talk to your doctor about jabs. Temps will be ok, anything between 15 to 30 will be possible, but it won't be as hot as in summer. Like most places in the ME Jordan is most definitely not baby-buggy friendly. Especially Petra would be hard to see with a buggy. You'd need a carrier for the baby that can be carried on the back. Places to see: Petra, the Dead Sea, Wadi Rum and Aqaba. With a small child I would stick to the Dead Sea and Petra, maybe Aqaba. There is no train in Jordan, but you can easily get around by bus, shared taxi and taxi or rented car. No need to go on an organised tour, but in your case I would strongly recommend it for the sake of your child. Daytrip to Jerusalem: Forget it. First because it takes too long to cross the border so a daytrip is impossible to begin with. Second I would most definitely not do the trip with a small child unless absolutely necessary. Crossing land borders in the ME is a bit of a hassle, there is a certain uncertainty associated with the crossing and the transport to and from the border. Things are difficult to predict, I would not put my child through this unless I had a very very good reason to do so. Edited by: t_maia | 2
Two year to four year old is probably the worst age group actually. Small enough to need attention and to fret at the heat, will need a LOT of water (to be carried) and the child is big enough to make it difficult to carry him which will probably be needed most of the time. Petra can be done if you hire a donkey when you are down in the site and if you can take a buggy down and back. Otherwise I agree with the previous posters. | 3
