Entering Iran by boat from DubaiCountry forums / Middle East / Iran
Anyone knows of a ferry service that would take me from Dubai to Iran? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Best,

Hi there, I have done a lot of digging around on this subject as I was planning on travelling to Iran via Dubai. There is, apparently, an irregular service that goes from Dubai to Kish Island (Iranian territory), but it is by no means reliable. I certainly wouldn't travel to Dubai with the assumption that you will be able to get to Iran by boat. There is a small section in the Lonely Planet Iran about it, check it out in your local bookshop if you don't want to buy it. | 2
Don't count on it, besides, the prices for foreigners are the same as flying so its just not worth it, catch a plane from Dubai to bandar Abbas (or sharjah to tehran) | 3
For the 1-hr air flight from Dubai, see KishAir (located at the domestic terminal, take taxi to the opposite (west?) side of the field). There are some 5 flights per day (filled with guest-workers renewing their visas). Buy a ticket from any Agent, or get help from the small back-KishAir office in the Domestic Terminal. There are numerous hotels in Kish -- though the whole place seemed kinda deserted in January ???. (What if they half-built a city, and nobody came???) There is no visa required for Kish Island (duty-free-port). Presumably IF you have a real Iran Visa, you can then take the short ferry to Bander Abbas. Or, as suggested above, just fly several airlines to B'Abbas, or other primary Iran cities. | 4
