Aqaba to Petra and BackCountry forums / Middle East / Jordan
About this time next week I should be making my way from Egypt to Petra, crossing to Jordan by ferry. I have a few questions that I hope you can help me answer. Where is the best place to exchange money in Aqaba? How much do the service taxis cost? Do they usually try to fill up before leaving Aqaba? If I go to Wadi Rum for a day and night, how difficult is it to get to Aqaba in time to catch the ferry back to Nuweiba? Thanks for your advice.
Hi, it's 4 years since i did a very similar trip to this. | 1
There are a number of banks which generally give a better rate than you will find on the boat or at the port. Service taxis and minibuses leave from the bus station, generally both leave when full. There are more comfortable long distance buses which leave from their respective offices:Trust and JETT. There is an early morning bus from Wadi Rum to Aqaba except on Fridayswhen there is none (transport everywhere is rare on Fridays), but it is often filled by the local people and tourists can have difficulty finding a seat. In that case you would need to call for a taxi from Aqaba, 25JD to centre of the town or probably 35JD to the port. | 2
