amman to aleppo to istanbul

amman to aleppo to istanbul, anyone taken this route and if so, how was it, did u use bus- train- train? thanks

I've gone from Aleppo to Istanbul twice. The first time I took an overnight bus, and woke up in the middle of the night with some Turkish dude gently caressing my beard and telling me it was beautiful - this was all kinds of awkward/weird/unpleasant, but makes for an entertaining anecdote today. The second time I took a minibus to Antakya, another bus to Adana and then flew to Istanbul on a budget airline - this was faster, more expensive and less eventful.

Amman to Aleppo is easy and straight forward - a shared taxi to Damascus and then a super cheap bus (or train ride) to Aleppo from there.

you can also take a direct bus from Amman to Aleppo, it takes 12 hours (although this might vary quite a bit). I seem to remember it costing the equivalent of $7-8. Check the offices around Abdali bus station in Amman.

Flying from Adana is not that expensive, and it's really nice if you've been on the road for a long time. I can really recommend taking the train though, the trip is beautiful and very relaxing - just remember to stock up on food before you go, the trip is loooooooong if you're hungry :). The Istanbul/Aleppo train ride is great-a little on the slow side but watching the Turkish hills roll by with a glass of wine is pretty relaxing (bring your own wine)-last time I made the journey I spent a couple of hours in the Egyptian bazzaar stocking up on bread, chease and sausage, bought a pile of new papers and was a little sad to arrive!
Now the Amman-Damascus leg I have not done but I gather can be a little less interesting in terms of scenery.

Littlebuddha237-I had a similar experience on the Damascus/Qamishly sleaper but with a large Libyan.
