Advice/info on two different topics

Country forums / Middle East / Jordan

Good evening all.

I am currently in Israel/Palestine and will be heading back to Jordan in the next day or two. I spent a day in Amman previously so when I return to Jordan I only want to visit the Kings Hwy, Petra/Wadi Musa, and Wadi Rum. I'm looking for route and transportation advice.

First, the easy one: Other than posting here and on other travel forums, what is the best way to find a few other travelers looking to rent a vehicle to travel the Kings HWY? I can look for people at the hostel in Amman but would rather have things set beforehand as my time in Jordan is going to be limited.

Now the harder one: If I can not travel the Kings Hwy, I would consider traveling thru Israel and accessing Wadi Musa and Wadi Rum from Eliat(sp?). From what I've read, this seems pretty straight forward but I entered Israel via Allenby bridge and would be exiting a different crossing. I had issues getting in, see: Another Thorntree post and would prefer not to repeat that experience. Will entering via Allenby and exiting via Eliat raise any red flags?

I know this is a case-by-case thing but thought I would ask anyway. My American passport was stamped upon entry at Allenby if that makes a difference.

Thanks in advance for the replies. I need to be in Dahab by 7/15/09 at the latest so I will unfortunately be moving through Jordan pretty quickly. If you have other options I should consider please throw them out there.
