Hello, I have another question. My family and I are planning a trip to Syria in late March and early April. We have our tickets and have sent for our visas, and so far everything is fine. However, we have contacted a travel agent who we suspect may be overcharging us. He has offered us a package costing 2800US$ per person for about seventeen nights and a car with driver. Thank you to those that gave me advice about hotels in Homs. I need some advice about the "address" and "reference" section on the visa application for US citizens. I know that these can both be a hotel, but does that mean we have to make reservations at that hotel BEFORE sending in the visa application? Can we just put any hotel down and then make the reservations after the visa is approved? Do we have to have ANY contact with the hotel we put down before we send in?

We will be in Aleppo on a Friday (unavoidable as we fly out from there on a Saturday) but I've heard that the souks and other sites are mostly closed on Friday.
What are good things to do in Aleppo on a Friday? I've thought about using that day for a day trip to St Simeon (sp?) but will it be difficult to find transport on a Friday (better to hire a taxi for half a day?)?
