I will have five full days in Jordan or somewhere in the Middle East to fill before my partner arrives from Australia to meet me for a few weeks travel through Jordan, Egypt and UAE.
Would be greatful for for any advice and/or itineraries suggested - am thinking maybe Syria or Israel?? Thoughts??
I'm a sole female traveller and would have just spent two months travelling around Africa and this is my first trip to the Middle East.

I found a cheap way to get from Germany to Turkey by carsharing.. The driver's destination is Izmir - so I could either go with him to Izmir or he drops me at Istanbul.
Does anybody know about buses running from Izmir to Syria? Are there direkt buses to Aleppo or can you take a bus to Gaziantep or Antakya?
How much would that bus be and how long would it take? Is it better to go from Istanbul?

I am travelling from Istanbul to Adana by train arriving in Adana at 18.35pm. The plan is to travel onto Aleppo, does anybody know what time the border closes? Would it be better to stay the night in Adana or Antakya and continue my journey the following day? If so can anyone reccomend a hotel. I am in two minds about what to do as I know little about this region in Turkey.

I am plannıng on goıng to study arabıc for one month at the Unıversıty of damascus... has anyone studıed there and can ınform me ıf ıt ıs good and easy to regıster? but I was thınkıng of stayıng wıth a famıly sınce ıt appears to be cheaper from what I have read... has anyone had any experıence wıth thıs? OK, first off, please don't shout at me if this question has already been answered - I searched the forums for 20 minutes with all sorts of different combinations and couldn't find it.
I have a UK passport, but it has an American visa in it. Will this pose any problems entering Syria? Any experience of non-US citizens with US visas in passports would be relevant.
