Hey fellow travellers,

a friend of mine living in Turkey would like to see me this summer, so we´re considering what is the better option: meeting up in Lattaqquia (SY) or Antakya (TR).
He arrives around 7 pm to Antakya Airport, I at around the same time to Lattaqquia. Are there any regular bus/minibus connections from any of these cities to the other and is the border crossing at Kassab opened 24h a day?
Maybe someone nows about some companies running buses betwenn the 2 cities?

Alternatively…

I just got my Syrian visa through the embassy in Washington D.C. (via FedEx, so I never actually got to talk to anyone at the Embassy...). I had asked for a 30-day visa, but they only gave me 15 days. I've heard that it is fairly easy to get the visa extended once in Syria - is this true? And if so, what is the best way to do it? And can you do it in any town?

Thanks

Hello!

I'm a U.S. citizen interested in going to Syria from Jordan. I do not yet have a visa. I've heard of U.S. nationals getting a visa on the border with Turkey but not from Jordan. Anyone gotten a visa on the Jordanian border? If so, how much did it cost? Or any luck getting one in Amman? And again, what was the cost? I've heard so many conflicting bits of information on this that it's hard to figure out what to do.

Another complicating factor is that I'm probably going to visit…

Hi

Is it possible to go from Damascus to Palmyra and back in one day?

a) Are there frequent bus connections?
b) Do I have enough time to see the historic Palmyra?

Unfortunately I don't have that much time but I want to take the chance to see some attractions as I am already in Syria.

Thanks.

Additional question. Is it a problem as a Swiss citizen to enter the U.S, if I do have an Syrian visa in my passport?

Hi everyone!

I plan to be travelling through Syria/Lebanon/Jordan around November of this year. When I've gone travelling before, I've stayed in hostels, and loved it for the ease of meeting other travellers. I've just been scanning accomodations recommendations for the Middle East though, and it seems like it's mostly hotels. Just wondering what the different vibe is like in the budget hotels, whether it's as easy to meet people in, and whether there will be many other travellers in the…

Hi. Do people have experience/views on bringing a laptop to Syria while on holiday? Mine's not particularly light especially with the charger and I'd rather not bring it unless I can use it regularly to surf the net. I will be there for 3 weeks. Would I for example find wireless networks easily in Damascus and/or elsewhere in Syria? Would I be able to connect via cable readily in internet cafes and/or in hotels? what sort of rates do they charge for using a cable? What about in Jordan - is it…

If your country has no embassy for Syria is it possible to get a visa for Syria at the border between Turkey and Syria.

For example, I'm from Holland and in my country is no Syrian Embassy. Friends told me that I will get a visa at the border but I prefer a confirmation.

Thanks for your help.

Is there a taxi information desk where you pay a set price for the trip into the Centre? Or do you have to negotiate/bargain with the taxi drivers whom I assume are lined up outside the Arrivals Hall? What is a reasonable fare price?
