Sadly the days of an ''open jaw'' airline ticket will end on January 9th 2010. Gone will be the halcyon days when you could fly from London to Allepo, travel overland, and exit from Tel-Aviv back to London with Bmi, as the airline is cutting both those services.

I've just returned from a 8 day trip to Syria - taking in Damascus, Bosra and Palmyra.
The place has everything I could hope for and more: great sites, lovely people, decent food, nice weather and excellent overall value for money.

I am a Swiss passport holder. While living in Lebanon, I have been told by many tourists, that they just can cross to Syria with paying 60$ at the border! Am hoping to travel from Homs to Baalbek this December and then return to Homs and onto Hama (will stay overnight at least).I have a Syrian multi entry visa. Do the buses still go in winter and do they continue into the afternoon as I will probably be coming from Palmyra in the morning? What bus station do they go from?
