How long does it take to be issued a Syrian visa at the Turkish/Syrian border.
Do we need any other paper work apart from our passports and extra photos?
Thanks.

Not all nationals can get VOA

i (UK passport) crossed at the nusaybin border in eastern turkey and had no problems getting a VOA. officially as UK has a syrian embassy i was supposed to get one there, or else pay a fortune (GBP65 on top of 35 for visa) for a letter of recommendation from a uk consulate in turkey. as they basically just look at your passport and print out the letter, it seemed like a bit of a waste of money so i chanced it at the border and after 30mins or so and filling in a couple of forms (no extra docs required) i was allowed in for US$50 (supporting what has been written elsewhere on this forum for EU nationals. a spaniard and a korean also crossed without prior visas. the advantage of using a border less frequented by foreigners is that we really stood out and were helped sooner than the throng of turks or syrians.
NB: it was actually $52, which is really annoying if you were expecting it to be exactly 50 and only brought that amount
go for it
