I am a resident in Dubai and plan to leave soon. I want to drive to Europe through Saudi, Jordan, Syria and Turkey. I was told by Syrian embassy that I need UAE residence visa valid for 6 months to get transit visa through Syria. Has anybody got transit visa with cancelled UAE residency visa? Any other way to get through Syria? Any experience/advice is greatly appreciated.

Usually you can get a visa at the border. However since you'll be in big trouble if for some reason you can't get one, I would suggest sending your passport to the Syrian embassy in your home country just to make sure.

Thanks. Do you know how long Syrian visa is valid for: do I need to enter the country within 3 months or 6 months?
