It's always wonderful to read gushing reviews. Syria really is magical. Glad you made it in--and were spared the $100 I had to pay to get the visa at home. "Processing fees," you know...

Yep!

I don't know how you can't GUSH!
;)

I just wonder if the $100 is worth it though...
I mean then it's 3 month multiple entry (yeah Turkey is the same deal for $20...) but can you get the visa on the Jordanian border!?!?

Don't know...it never would have occurred to me to try not paying the $100, as I had time at home to get my visa. It wasn't multiple-entry, just double-entry. The only border that used to be pretty guaranteed to give out the visa was Lebanon but I haven't kept up so I don't know if that's still true.

Having already been and loved it--Syria is still my favorite country--I would certainly pay the even higher visa fee now...but I can see how $130 would be off-putting for most new visitors.

I made it in on Christmas Eve with an American passport after a 5 hour wait. It was a single entry, but i talked to many people who had no trouble obtaining another visa from the Lebanese border to get back to Damascus.
