Hello there,
Afeiend would like to ask you this:

"I hope to travel from Homs in Syria to Bcharre in Lebanon.
I think this can be done, but how when where and who etc.
If I get a bus/taxi to the border. what then? Can I get a bus/taxi to Bcharre.
Which crossing would I use. I have heard of one called Al Joucieyah. Is this the one to use.
Do I have to travel via Tripoli as I understand Tripoli is unsafe and a no go area at present

thanks and regards"

HI from Homs hire Syrian car/driver to border towns Aboodie/Dabbosie about 60/ km away from Homs.At border walk on feet across to the Lebanese side. You will find Lebanese drivers waiting to take you to Bcharre. It is wise to stay away from Tripoli.

How soon are you going?
If it is not blocked by snow, you can also approach Bcharré from the Bekaa Valley side. There is a scenic mountain route that passes via the Cedars ski resort, but it is closed in Winter. When it's open, there is no public transport, but you can hitchhike - I did it in reverse last year. It's 2-3 hours from Baalbek.

pass is closed right now...you can take a bus from tripoli. I think it is 7000 LP ($4). You can also take a taxi. In the day it would be maybe $25 and at night it will be closer to $45.
Have fun skiing. Watch out for the rocks. Skiis were cheap to rent, but check the bottoms for nicks, gashes, and the like. They have better boots (red) then the ones they give you at first, if you rent at the mountain.
Tiger house is the cheapest around, and the son of the owner will take you up to the Ceders if he is around and going skiing/boarding too.

Dont consider leaving Lebanon without seeing Baalbek. Outstanding.
By the way I caught local transport from Baalbek to Hama in a day.
