There are a lot more hotel rooms in Palmyra than there are tourists so I wouldn't worry about making a reservation unless you have your heart set on those places.

palmyra is incredible! i think the 3 most amazing sites in the world are: pyramids, petra, and palmyra. to me theyre the 3 Ps. the taj mahal is right up there too.

yes TRRK is right, even 10 years ago there were many more rooms than tourists. and the town is tiny, so need to book anything.
