Gentlemen and Ladies,

Would someone who has recently stayed at the

Orient Palace Hotel in Damascus (very close to the

Hejira Train Station and Central Post Office) please

tell me the best way to make a reservation with them.

Do they have a website? Any recommendations or

comments would be most welcome. Thank you.

As far as I know, the Orient Palace is booked up with Iranian pilgrims nowadays, and quite worn down, too.

most hotels in that area are used for tourist from Iran and from the Gulf it depends on occasion they are fully booked and some times plenty of vacansies. .They are well known to local travel agents who send groups in large number that is how they get their business. They dnt rely on the internet reservations.

As you probably already found out, it's almost impossible to make a reservation with the Orient Palace Hotel over the phone. I ended up having to email them at: info@orientpalacehotel.net to make a reservation. They did get back to me in a day. I just got back from Damascus where I stayed for 5 nights in the Orient Palace because everything else was sold out. I would NOT recommend staying at the Orient Palace. They charged $80 US per night, which is the same or more than most of the other mid-range hotels that are much much nicer. The Orient Palace is in rough shape. It's not horrible, but things like the old, musty carpet and filthy, filthy bath tub, smell of mold in the bathroom and mattress so old you sink into them, make it more like an over priced hostel. Try the Afamia or the City Hotel or the Faradise, they are right in the same neighborhood and are alot nicer.
