Planning to stay for 3-4 weeks in Damascus and was wondering if anyone has any leads on cheap (less than 1000 SP/night) accommodation options?
I was in Syria in 2001, seems like prices have shot up quite a bit since then.

you can rent a room in Bab Toma or any other part of the old town of Damascus for about 10000.00 up to 13000.00 Syrian pounds per month. but if you would like to consider a hotel; then the options are many in Saroja area, and there is a reasonable hotel in the straight street called Al-Ameen Al Jadded Hotel, they charge about 600sp per night.
