can anyone help with a few question...
1) I am due to arive in Damascus at 10pm early October and was wondering how easy it is for lone females to get transport to my accomodation in town
2) are there any suggested routes i should take that maximise sight seeing for aloted 14 days stay?
3) how easy is it to both get to the jordinian boader crossing and then cross?
4) what is the recomended dress code? does this apply in Lattakia

Hi! I'm a Canadian moving to Syria next month. I was there at Christmas with my fiance. I am moving to Lattkia, when are you going there?Do you speak any Arabic? In terms of dress, it is better to try to blend it. This means long pants and shirts, but you don't have to cover your head. I took a bus called "VIP" from Lattkia to Damascus, it is nice, clean and not too expensive. They go pretty often and seem very safe.

Question 1/ As you exit the arrivals hall at Damascus Airport, the kiosk for the Julia Dumna Budget taxi shuttle which had a set price of ( 1500 £SP or about 33 US$) for the ride to your Damascus hotel, is on the right hand side. The authorised money exchange, is back inside the arrivals hall. The ATM's (four months ago) were only for local bank holders' cards. You will be pleased to learn that this will possibly be your most expensive transport cost by far in Syria. All local taxis and busses etc. are dirt chaep
Dress-wise you should be covered from wrist to ankle in quite loose clothing, but yes, definitely no need to cover your head (they would assume you were a convert or just odd). Carry a scarf for going into the mosque, though (although at the ones most interesting for tourists they will insist on you wearing the attractive grey plastic-y robe thing - tip for taller women like me - they come in different lengths). If you are going to Palmyra (which you must!), it can get colder there at night so bring a jumper or whatever.
