hi there
in LP it says there might be taxi service between lettakia and beirut - but in 2007 the borders were closed. did someone travel this route this year by taxi or bus - crossing the border to lebanon on the coast road?

Yep, the border crossing is open at the moment. The only time it is closed is when there is instability in Tripoli or in Lebanon as a whole. I'm pretty sure it's been open for the past couple of years without incident.
Service taxi from Latakia to Beirut is available almost 24/7 via the northern border with Lebanon as detailed by SPDL

Sorry readers above post was inadvertantly posted on the forum .It was meant to be sent as private message to SPDL

I crossed from Southern Syria into Lebanon on the coast road, just north of Tripoli, only last week. Absolutly no problems although as the crossing was busy (we were on a coach from Aleppo to Beirut) the crossing took about 1 3/4 hrs!
