Further to the statement/question of departing a country on one passport and returning on another - I have two passports, neither indicate the existence of the other however I can only return to Oz on the Passport that I exited on. I have a second passport for the purposes of travelling to Israel. My other passport is used for travel to those countries that do not recognise Israel. The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade had no issue when I requested the second passport for this purpose. I don’t have both passports on me when I am overseas to ensure that are no difficult questions at a Border search.

What if you DO have dual citizenship?
Do the Israeli border people view this in any way negatively?
I am workin in Egypt on my UK passport. I am planning to go to Jordan before Israel. I assume I should use the UK passport for Jordan too...but can I then use my Australian passport at the border entering Israel or wont they like this?
Anyone got any relevant experience?
Thanks
#31 Many Israelis have dual citizenship because they are immigrants and have retained the citizenship of their country of origin. This is not considered to be in any way "negative".
You can enter Israel on whichever passport you like. Nobody will care. Your own choice might depend on which is easier (cheaper visa, no visa, allowing you a longer stay, whatever) but since none of that applies with either a UK or an Australian passport when entering Israel, choose the one with the prettier colour. However, since things in Egypt are uncertain, and it might be difficult in the future with a possible regime change if you have an Israeli stamp in that passport, you might prefer to use your Australian one for entering and leaving Israel.
