Gentlemen and Ladies:

I am an American and live in Taiwan, which has NO Syrian representation. I know the Syrians want us to get our visas in our home country or country of permanent residence. As I will not be back in the USA for a long time, and Taiwan has no Syrian representation, is it feasible for me to send my passport back to the Syrian Embassy in Washington, D.C. by Federal Express (FedEx), and have it returned to me in Taiwan the same way (with the new visa inside.) Or, is this just not a good idea? I am understandably paranoid about sending my passport off on a trip around the world.
If anyone has sent his/her passport off to his/her home country

to get a visa, please tell me how it went. How many days does

it take for the Syrian Embassy to issue a visa, and any other

pertinent information would be most welcome.

Thank you very much for your attention.

If you have a residency permit for Taiwan, then you can get the visa at the border. No need to send the passport half-way round the world.

Hello,

I just wanted to share with you my recent experience with the Syrian Embassy in D.C.
I am a U.S. citizen living in Italy and I sent my passport to D.C. with UPS (they told me this was the most reliable and quickest way). I sent it off on Wed. night of last week and it arrive in Rome yesterday (Monday). This just goes to show you how amazing quick and easy it was. It was expensive but it was worth it. They were so efficient and it took less time to do it that way then to actually wait for the Syrian Embassy here in Rome to okay my visa. I had been waiting already 3 weeks and the Syrian Embassy in Rome still hadn't received the okay from Damascus for my visa.
I have heard that you can't get it at the border so I would definitely organize to get it through D.C. Cost is 131 dollars.

Best of luck...
