Hello all,

I will be arriving at the airport in Damascus around 3 a.m. and I'm not sure if if safer to wait at the airport a couple of hours or to get a taxi and reach the down center directly. Would anything open at that time? Sorry for the silly question but I have never experienced such an early arrival.

I have Syrian multiple entry visa and I would like to include Baalbek (Lebanon) in my tour. What would it be the best way to reach Baalbek from Syria, possibly by public transportation?

Thank you for your advise.
Paola

Nothing to worry about while you are in Syria. No big difference from an early hour or that at middaybusy hour. But I am afraid you wouldn’t find any taxis at Damas Airport since there is only one private rent a car with driver all the day around as only one company allowed there ; The Budget. Unless you could arrange with someone, say from your hotel, to meet and assist you and to pick you up and drop you of the hotel. Regarding your 2nd Q. The best way to go Baalbek is by taking Syrian Lebanese crossing boarder gate “Almasnaa (Jadeedeh) about one hour drive from Damascus. For more details, you just click on this link

Doesn't a taxi company called Julia Dumna, have the sole franchise at the airport anymore, amagrabi? The kiosk for booking taxis, was outside the arrivals hall on your right hand side. The fare was 1500 SYP. Change your paper money inside the departure/arrival hall at the money exchange. There was not an ATM at the airport that accepted Visa / Mastercard (unless someone knows differently).

Hi Sandyfoot, What I meant is that you couldn't find yellow taxis anymore to take you to thedown town or to your hotel. So there is only one choice, to hire a car with a driver from Budget at the rate you mentioned, 1500SP. Or as I staed above. Thanks for your concern.
