Airport taxi costs 1500 sp plus driver tip. This is official fixed rate for a car with up to 3 passengers no bargaining as it was in the past.

eric92...........Now you have had a chance to convert the Syrian pounds into Eritrean nafka, or whatever. That single airport taxi, will possibly be the most expensive journey, you make while you are in Syria. Syrian buses and taxis work out to be great value.

Hi
If you don't have much luggage, why don't you take the bus from the airport? Theres' an official Airport-Central Damascus bus, it's cheap, efficient and should drop you within walking distance of the Afamia Hotel. It used to drop you in Baramki, behind the old Hejaz Railway Station, but I'm not sure if it still does. You can buy ticket for the bus when you exit the airport. Just ask someone - the Syrians are the friendliest and most helpful people I know.
Hello,
just took the bus last two times i was in Damascus. The bus takes 50 SYP for one way, it goes to Sana Station and Baramke, Sana is the most near station to the old city. Each bag or suitcase will cost you 25 SYP. The taxi from the old city cost about 700 SYP, depending on your skills of bargain, you could pay less, but the bus is surely the best option, it runs every half hour.
