I am biking to Aleppo and planning to cross from Lebanon (Tripoli), has anyone done this before? what are the roads like?

I crossed about 2 weeks ago hired a taxi from Tripoli to the border walked accross and waited for visa I guese you could say I spent the day there only saw one guy hauled away I would say it's safe just traffic is your biggest danger and yes make sure you have a visa!

Which border crossing??
Abboudiyeh is the inland one and it is a bit of a nightmare to drive through let alone on a bike. The roads are really bad in the two or three kilometres on either side of the border, there is often only enough room for cars to go one way due to trucks parked at the side of the road waiting to cross (meaning no room for a bike) and it's always very busy.
Arida, by the coast, has a nice shiny new road from the outskirts of Tripoli to the border and is a much more pleasant crossing (I used to say quieter too although one poster recently dissagreed with me on that).
