Does anyone know what the cost is to get a taxi from the airport to the Christian quater of Damascus? Thanks.

The latest I heard is that the official rate is 700SYP. You might be able to bargain it down a bit if you walk out of the airport area.

Hello Derek.There is NO MORE BARGAINING with taxi fare at damascus airport.
There is ONLY one operator is called Julia Dumna .This compnay won the tender to service the airport few months ago.They paid millions of dollars to have the exclusive right for the service.
Hotels are allowed to transfere their guests in their own cars.
Yellow taxi ARE NOT ALLOWED to carry any passengers from the airport ,they can only take people from city to airport.
There is a bus service to Baramkeh and Abbaseen .cost 45 sp each.
Julia Dumna cost from airport to town centre MINIMUM 1200 sp(depends which area) plus a driver tip.

Indeed also the Sole airport operator Julia Dumna charges 700 sp for that service ie return to airport.The local yellow taxi can transport passengers TO AIRPORT but not from the airport which Julia Dumna has exclusive right.I hope this clears up this matter.
