Hi

Is there a border crossing point between Ceylanpinar in Turkey and Ras al-Ayn in Syria. A few websites seem to suggest you can cross between these towns however, the Syria LP guidebook states there is no crossing point.

Thanks

Hi,

There are 7 crossing points between Syria and Turkey, yet none of them is Ras a-Aayn. Optinos are few if wanted one that is nearer to Ras al-Ain. However, if you would like to find the nesrest possible one, try either Nassabeen ( near Qamishly city), or Tel Abyad north Raqqa city.

Good Luck!

I gather from the little information that I have that Ras al-Ayn/Ceylanpinar may only open for certain religious holidays. It isn't marked as a crossing on my Turkish road atlas but I see an article mentioning this and it listed as such on another web page.

I am currently in Syria and ultimately heading for Maku in Iran. I had thought of going to Qamishly/Nusaybin to get into Turkey and then up via the western side of Lake Van but I have heard from a friend that lived here that the Syrian army/government may not be keen on a foreigner travelling to Qamishly or in the north east in general and that there may have been clashes there recently/currently involving the army.

Any advice on whether it would be possible for me to cycle from Aleppo- Lake Asser - Qamishly safely at the moment would be much appreciated.

I am on a bicycle incidentally so would be rightly stuck if being turned back involves multiple hundreds of km.

Tel Abyad/Akcakale is my only other option then I think?
