Hello out there!

I will be travelling through Syria for two weeks in April. I will try to get a small amout of Syrian pounds to bring with me to get me started, but I would also like to bring some foreign currency to exchange for Syrian pounds as needed (I do not want to rely on ATMs). Is it best to bring US dollars, Euros, or British pounds? The Bradt guide seems to suggest Euros are best, while Lonely Planet and the Rough guide suggest US dollars are better. What do you reckon? Thanks a lot. I am really looking forward to it!

I f you are coming from UK there is no need to exchange your money to USD or Euro cos that will cost you money too.
British Pound is just as good as USD and Euro in Syria

You cnt bring with you or take out the country any Syrian currency.
I doubt if you can find SP in UK anyhow.
When you arrive at the airport you can exchange some SP to pay for taxi etc..but best to exchange money at banks for best rate

Hi you can bring either US$ or Euro to convert to Syrian pounds, but under no circumstance bring Travelers cheques as they are not accepted by the banks or hotels.

Have a great time in Syria!
