My flights are finally booked and it looks as though I will be arriving at Damascus on 17 April 2010 which just happens to be "National Day" in Syria. Does anyone know what the implications are of this? Will I find everything closed? Expected to pay a surcharge for services? Can anyone enlighten me? Look forward to your replies................................

National public holidays are mainly for the lucky government employees a apid day off work.
Life goes as normal for shopping, and stores remain opened for tourists and no surcharge for services.

I arrived on an October holiday and nothing I needed right away was a problem. Damascus is one of my favorite cities, have a good trip and be responsible as a visitor.
