Hello world!

Apologies in advance for yet another visa question! I think I've done a reasonable search through the threads, but can't find my answers...

We are an Australian couple looking to travel through Syria on our way home later this year (probably getting there around mid November sometime). We have lived & worked in London for 4 years, and have the relevant letters from our employers required for the visa. Am I correct in understanding that we should be able to apply for our Syrian visas at the London embassy given that we currently have residence in the UK (proved by both the UK visas in our passports, and our letters of employment)? There is a Syrian embassy in Australia.

If yes, does anyone know how much these visas cost (I know it's £50 for a multiple entry visa for a British citizen, but not sure if the cost is the same for an Australian citizen)? We are applying for multiple entry visas purely for the reason that we will take longer than 3 months to reach Syria - does anyone know if we need to show reason for needing a MEV as opposed to a single entry?

One last question - we will be applying via post, and wondering if anyone has any experience with sending two passports together for visas - ie. can we send a joint postal order, and can we just send one pre-paid return envelope for both passports rather than an order & an envelope each?

Sorry for the multiple questions! We have so many visas to attempt to obtain in such a short period of time that I'm overwhelmed by all the info I've read!!!

Thanks for your help in advance.

Jem & Phil

Cost of visa for Syria for Brits around usd 60 and for Ozies around usd 80
Both natinals can getVOA a single entry one.
It is best if you can get a double or mutiple entry one(cost is same as single entry one) from the Syrian embassy in UK but that may be difficult..
You can send both passports in one envelope if you apply by mail

Op - have you tried a One Stop Visa Shop in London? When I was last in London there was one next to Top Deck in Earls Court. It was a great resource for getting all the visas I needed for a multi stop Europe/Middle East/South East Asia trip. You could try Visa World at http://www.visaworld.co.uk/contact_ourlocation.html for the same service. Yes you do pay a service fee however it does mean all your visas are sorted by one agency.

For Syrian visa submissions, are open between 10:00-12:00 Monday to Friday for personal callers. They take about 3 to 4 days to post your passports back to you. If you visit, they probably will return the visa the same day but later in the afternoon. If not prepare a recorded delivery prepaid envelope for them to return the passports to you. For more info:

Thanks for your responses!

As an update for anyone else that may find this post useful in the future, we sent our passports off together in the post, with a £100 postal order, and a self-addressed registered post envelope (that we forgot to register!!). Got both passports back together approximately a week later, with change! So Aussie passports are obviously cheaper for Multiple Entry Visas than UK passports.

No problems at all!
