Do you also leave the country through the airport at Damascus? Don't forget the Syrians raised the airport tax to a whopping SYP1500 from the SYP300 quoted in many guidebooks. It caught me by surprise!

yes, unfortunately we got caught out by the airport tax leaving damascus - it's outrageous how much they've increased it by!
